Fancy Footwork Poster
Fancy Footwork is a production that happens after the ballet season at Colorado Ballet. Rather than traditional productions, Fancy Footwork allows the dancers to choose the pieces they want to perform.
Concept Sketches
The concept sketches for the Fancy Footwork poster focused on the typeface. I was sent the base image of the ballet dancer, and from there I was allowed to do whatever I felt necessary. Since it’s called Fancy Footwork, I chose to incorporate a cursive font to better fit the title.
Colors
The colors were taken from both the original image and the Colorado Ballet logo. This ensured that the poster remained cohesive in all aspects, while still standing out amongst the background.

Typography
For the font, there was a lot of research into different cursive fonts, but in the end I chose to create the typeface for the poster myself.
Digital Drafts
In this draft, the text is too thin, making it difficult to read.
This draft incorporates the website URL, but takes away from the main information.
The text in this iteration is comprised of two, very similar. colors that is unnecessary.
Final Iteration
The final iteration of this poster was used for the Fancy Footwork event in 2022. The Colorado Ballet logo can be seen in the upper corner, along with the decorative typography in the center that incorporates the same colors.
